The Lands Commut
Jithe Treasury have been informed me bat
in strict accordance
with the provisions of the Superannuation Act, they have no power to grant a pension to Colonel Caine, but that having regard to the extended and valuable services
of this officer at

Kong between 1841
and 1859,
and to the circumstance of the abolition of his office
with a view to the
public interest of the public
service, their Lordships have
sanctioned the
grant to him a special pension
of £600 per annum
payable out of the Colonial Revenue Hong Kong.
